Did you know? EBV is spread through saliva. This means it is possible to catch EBV from things like sharing eating utensils or kissing.

The CIRCLE-EBV Study is an observational study that is looking at the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) -- the virus that causes infectious mononucleosis (mono).

Researchers want to understand how this viral infection develops, and how it affects different age groups. It is hoped that this study will provide valuable information that may help develop vaccines or treatments against EBV in the future.

This study will include people who:

  • Are high school students, 14-17 years of age.
  • Have never had an experimental EBV vaccine

Participants will not receive any treatments or vaccines in this study. We will collect information about your health from blood and saliva (spit) samples, and questions during regular study visits. It is hoped that your participation will help us gather valuable information.

Study participation will last up to 4 years for high school students. Participants will receive compensation of up to $100 per visit depending on the type of visit in the form of points you can redeem for electronic gift cards or Visa pre-paid cards.
