Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Thanks for your interest in the Emergency Medicine program at the University of Maryland.

Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, I am a Midwesterner at heart. My family moved to Columbia, MD right before high school, and since, I've become a Terp (or Terrapin) through and through. I went to University of Maryland, College Park, studying Biology and Spanish as an undergrad. Then I moved up I-95 to Baltimore, and went to medical school here at University of Maryland.

After working as a scribe in the Emergency Department of a local hospital during college, I came into medical school with an interest in EM. The UMEM faculty and residents helped me to develop that interest during medical school. When it came time to interview, I found myself comparing all other programs to Maryland's, and ultimately, put Maryland at the top of my list.

I had many reasons why Maryland was my first choice for residency training. This is a supportive, engaging, top-notch program that will push you to be an amazing clinician, teacher, and leader in the field. The didactic curriculum is interactive and literature-based. Finally, the faculty members are amazing role models. There is a strong family dynamic in the program which is often envied by other residents at UMMC. The residents are a social bunch who love to spend time together outside of the hospital.

About me- I love hockey (Go Red Wings!), watching college sports, doing yoga, and spending time with my friends and family. I'm a traveler, which I'm working to continue despite the busy schedule during residency. Baltimore is a great city to work and play in. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me!
