Academic Activities and Responsibilities
My name is Carmen Avendano and I was born in Santiago, Chile. I have 2 brothers and a sister. I moved around a lot when I was younger, and finally settled in Minnesota. I went to undergrad at the University of Minnesota and graduated with a BS in Neuroscience and Mathematics. I then went to medical school at St George's University. During my 3rd year of medical school I realized how much I loved Emergency medicine as well as Pediatrics. I was so excited when I matched at UMEM, because I could do both! I have absolutely loved the program, the people, and my fellow interns. In my spare time I love to be outdoors, I love to hike, camp, play sports, eat, movies, board games, adventures, and read.
