As Chief Residents, we are proud to represent a program deeply rooted in clinical excellence. At UMMC, you will gain early exposure to critically ill, medically complex, and high-acuity patients, as evidenced by our particularly high case mix ranking (99th percentile nationally according to the CMS Case Mix Index). We are committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while serving the diverse communities that place their trust in us.

In addition, we also have the privilege of partnering with nationally recognized surgical services, including the Center for Aortic Disease and the Complex Obstetric Surgery Program. Although our rigorous clinical training produces confident, well-rounded, and highly sought-after graduates, our program is truly defined by its people and the culture we've built together.
With an average workweek of approximately 50–60 hours and a strong institutional commitment to resident wellness, our residents have time to enjoy everything Baltimore and the surrounding region have to offer.
