Professor or Associate Professor

Deadline: November 4, 2026

  • Promotions at these ranks may take four to six months to complete, as they need to be reviewed by the APT Committee, Executive Committee, School of Medicine Council, and the Dean.
  • Read the Dean’s memo regarding faculty degrees regarding APT level promotions.
  • Do not send an electronic of the candidate’s CV until you are notified by OAA. Be sure to keep track of the final version (in Word format) as requested revisions are made.
For part-time:
  • Read through the Guidelines- PR to Associate Professor and Professor, part-time (rev. 10-7-25) before beginning to obtain materials for this promotion.  
    • Checklist- Promotion to Associate Professor and Professor, part-time may help you track your progress.
    • Prefix with "Clinical" if clinical activities comprise a majority of their time.
    • Ensure that all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.
For volunteer:
  • Read through the Guidelines- PR to Associate Professor and Professor, vol. (rev. 10-7-25) before beginning o obtain materials for this promotion.  
    • Checklist- Promotion to Associate Prof or Professor, volunteer (Rev 2-11-25)  may help you track your progress.
    • Prefix with "Clinical" if clinical activities comprise a majority of their time.
    • Prefix with "Adjunct" research activities comprise a majority of their time.

Assistant Professor

Deadline: April 7, 2027

  • Be aware that faculty promotions at these ranks may take from several weeks to a month to complete, as they need to be reviewed by the School of Medicine Council, and the Dean.
For part-time:
  • Read through Guidelines- Promotion to Assistant Professor, part-time before beginning to obtain documentation for this promotion, and use it as a checklist to track your progress.      
    • Prefix with "Clinical" if clinical activities comprise a majority of their time.
    • Ensure that all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.
For volunteer:
  • Read through Guidelines- Promotion to Assistant Professor, volunteer before beginning to obtain documentation for this promotion, and use it as a checklist to track your progress.    
    • Prefix with "Adjunct", only if volunteer, and if research activities comprise a majority of their time.
    • Prefix with "Clinical" if clinical activities comprise a majority of their time.
    • Ensure that all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.
