Our mission is to reduce the neurologic morbidity and mortality that affects the several million worldwide who suffer from stroke, cardiac arrest and trauma to the head and spinal cord.
Our goals are to develop optimal neuroprotective interventions to expedite diagnosis, and to optimize patient management. These goals are pursued by a team of investigators with expertise in the molecular mechanisms of neuroprotection, in patient safety, and in innovative technologies for medical communication. Our interdisciplinary approach and strong collaborative relationships with other basic and clinical scientists and emergency medical services places us in a unique position to successfully achieve our mission.
The Laboratories conduct research in:
- clinical anesthesiology
- neurodegeneration and neuroprotection
- human factors
- clinical informatics
We collaborate with researchers at the University of Maryland Medical Center, the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
