Division of Hematology/Oncology

Thanks to cutting-edge research and innovations in the Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, we are beating the odds in the battle against cancer.

The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center is located on the School of Medicine campus. It brings together expert researchers and clinicians from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) to work in tandem on preventing, detecting and treating cancer. These experts also teach at the School of Medicine, training the next generation of doctors who will take up the fight.

There has been substantial growth in the Division of Hematology-Oncology's clinical activities in recent years. With the opening of the Roslyn and Leonard Stoler Pavilion for Outpatient Cancer Care in June of 2005, patients receive compassionate and progressive multidisciplinary care by a team of medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, specialty nurses and psychologists, all in a state-of-the-art facility.

Cutting-edge clinical research in our division over the last several years has lead to nearly 400 patients being entered into therapeutic clinical trials at the Greenebaum Cancer Center. Find Out More About Clinical Trials.

Students, residents and fellows working in our division have ample opportunity to work side by side with leading researchers and clinicians in a variety of fields. A bridge connects the School of Medicine's Bressler Research Building to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), making it convenient for learners to access both research and clinical areas. With this symbiotic relationship, new discoveries that are made can be quickly implemented quickly with seamless precision.
