The mission of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the University of Maryland is to provide excellence in clinical care of patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders, to find cures and new treatments for these diseases through cutting-edge research, and to educate and train present and future health care providers and medical researchers.

 

Research

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition (EDN) utilizes multidisciplinary research teams for basic and translational research of endocrine and other disorders. Funding for the division’s grants comes from the NIH, foundations (e.g., the American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association), and the pharmaceutical-biotech industry.

The faculty in the Division are actively engaged in medical education, focusing on clinical and research. The faculty are engaged in multiple tiers of the training arm from medical students, residents, fellows, and pre- and post-doctoral students.
