The Division of Gerontology is conducting a state-wide examination of health issues in nursing home residents as well as a multi-state examination of alternative long-term care settings (The Collaborative Studies of Long-Term Care). Projects are examining the epidemiology of dementia, the effects of facility characteristics on health outcomes, the care-giving experiences of family members of those admitted to nursing homes, an assessment of educational needs of nursing home personnel, and the relationship between osteoporosis and fracture risk.
