Site Description:   

The Belize Ministry of Health and Wellness Medical Laboratory Service is comprised of a network of laboratories at the National, Regional and District levels. Central Medical Laboratory provides clinical support for the entire public health system and serves as the National Referral Laboratory for Belize. Northern Regional Hospital and the Corozal Community Hospital have clinical laboratory space that is used for research.  

The Central Medical Laboratory is housed in an independent 3 story building in Belize City, Belize. The lab is directed by Dr. Gerhaldine Morazan and is comprised of seven units: Pathology (Histology & Cytology), Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Belize National Blood Transfusion Service. The lab is well equipped with the necessary supplies and equipment to conduct routine testing for the patient population in Belize.
