Strengthen Your Next Grant Application with CARTI Grant Review Service
August 28, 2026
CARTI now offers expert internal peer review to enhance the quality, clarity, and competitiveness of grant applications by offering constructive feedback during the final stages of proposal development. The service is available to full-time UMSOM faculty who have a complete draft of their grant application ready prior to the sponsor deadline. Eligible applications include both research applications and career development applications.
Participants receive detailed reviews by two faculty who are funded and experienced reviewers with matching technical and/or scientific expertise. Reviewers provide “in-document” comments and an NIH-style summary highlighting areas for improvement, and offer actionable recommendations before submission.
CARTI is now accepting applications for review of grants being submitted to the NIH or other funding agencies for Spring 2027 deadlines. The timeline for Spring 2027 application deadlines can be found on the CARTI website. These timelines give reviewers sufficient time to provide meaningful feedback, and applicants adequate time to incorporate revisions before submission.
By connecting applicants with experienced faculty reviewers, the program provides valuable peer feedback to help strengthen proposals before submission and improve their competitiveness for external funding.
UMSOM faculty preparing grant applications or experienced faculty interested in serving as a reviewer are encouraged to visit the CARTI website to learn more about the program, eligibility requirements, and application deadlines for upcoming review cycles.
