Summary of the Research Project:

My research explores how prenatal HIV exposure affects immune development and growth in children who are HIV-exposed but uninfected through age 5. Using data from a longitudinal cohort in Malawi, I examine the durability of vaccine-induced immunity to diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, the role of early innate immune profiles in predicting long-term humoral responses, and the impact of maternal viral load on growth in the first five years of life. My goal is to improve understanding of how maternal health during pregnancy shapes child outcomes, with implications for immunization policy and early-life interventions in high HIV-burden settings.

About me:

I'm driven by a commitment to ensuring that every child—no matter where they are born—has an equal chance at a healthy life. This passion, combined with my love for visiting new places, trying new food, and soaking in new experiences, led me to pursue a PhD in the U.S. all the way from the warm heart of Africa: Malawi!
