CVD-Mali has a demographic surveillance system with a population of about 230,000 people, with expanded capacity to perform studies requiring randomized samples or population-based estimates of disease burden. Experience includes monitoring the impact of rotavirus vaccine introduction on rotavirus gastroenteritis, as well as other etiologies of diarrheal disease and intussusception and field surveys, especially coverage surveys.  ‌
