Medical Student Research Day
The University of Maryland School of Medicine Medical Student Research Day
The Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society and the Office of Student Research (OSR) in the Dean's Office have sponsored Medical Student Research Day (MSRD) for over 40 years. MSRD is a proud tradition for University of Maryland's medical students to present their research accomplishments to the school and the campus. The presentations are judged, and competitive prizes are awarded in recognition of outstanding research and presentations.

Eligibility to Present & Other Presentation Requirements
To present at MSRD all of the following requirements for eligibility must be met.
- Presenter must be a UMSOM medical student currently who has completed at least one year of medical school.
- Presenter must have conducted the research after enrollment at UMSOM.
- The content of the research must be related to biomedical fields or health topics.
- Clinical case presentations or vignettes are eligible.
- The research must not have been presented at a previous MSRD. Research that is an extension of research presented at a previous MSRD is permitted. If it is an extension, prior research and data can be included as part of the background and preliminary data.
- The research must have progressed enough that you have actual results to present. MSRD is not a platform to present a proposal on research you plan on doing. If you do not have actual results to present, you are not eligible to present your research at MSRD.
- MD/PhD students are eligible to present if they are in their second year of medical school or are in the first or second year of the PhD program.
Multiple Presenters
- Students who want to present together (co-presenters) must register together by completing one combined form.
- It is strongly recommended that no more than 2 students present together.
- We will consider up to 3 co-presenters on a case-by-case basis.
- Each co-presenter must be an eligible presenter.
- If awarded a prize, all co-presenters will evenly split the monetary award.
Multiple Presentations
- If you have more than one research project you would like to present, you must submit a separate registration form for each presentation.
- You will be asked to indicate your preference for the presentations, since space is limited and we cannot guarantee you will be able to give multiple presentations.

Participation as Judge
We welcome UM SOM faculty, postdoctoral and research fellows, residents, research associates, and research staff to be judges for the event.
