Resources for Current Postdocs
There are approximately 300 postdoctoral fellows at UMB. Our institution recognizes the valuable contributions made to the research enterprise and intellectual community by our postdoctoral researchers, and we want it to be a rich training experience for you.
Many resources for postdocs are listed below. In addition, the Office of Postdoctoral Scholars is always open to suggestions for new programming, events, or ideas to enrich your training, so please contact us.

NIH Mandate: All postdoctoral fellows must receive training in Responsible Conduct of Research
The Office of Postdoctoral Scholars offers ten sessions on the topics related to responsible conduct of research (authorship, collaborative research, conflicts of interest, secure data acquisition and management, research environments, mentoring, peer review, research misconduct, policies regarding human and animal subjects and safe lab practices, and research ethics and society). Each month a different faculty member from UMB with expertise on that topic provides a lecture lasting 30 minutes to one hour which is then followed by small group discussion on case studies led by discussion moderators for 30 minutes. Postdoctoral fellows take this training once every 4 years.
This series is one session a month from September to June, happening on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 3:00 pm. Postdoctoral Fellows will receive an email each month with a link for registration. Once they have completed all 10, they will receive a certificate and letter of completion.
Please contact Renee Cockerham with any questions about this series.
