About the House

Dr. Dodge, a 1925 graduate of the School of Medicine, was a pioneer in the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a strong advocate for maternal health care and sex education. She was the first woman intern at the University Hospital of Baltimore and the first woman resident physician in Obstetrics at the same hospital.
She later served as the acting head of the Department of Obstetrics at the Women’s Medical School in Shanghai, China, and the acting head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arkansas Medical School.
Dr. Dodge was a leader in the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) and served as president in 1938.
