Immunology research in the department spans a wide range of topics from the evolution of the immune system in amphibians and sharks to clinical studies improving transplantation tolerance or tumor immunotherapy in humans.

Immunology laboratories are also associated with several centers involved in vaccine development (CVD), human virology (IHV), molecular genomics (IGS) and comparative biology (IMET).
