About Dr. Creanga
Andreea A. Creanga, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. A nationally and internationally recognized physician-scientist, she provides strategic leadership in advancing population health research, data science innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the School of Medicine and broader public health community.
Dr. Creanga’s scholarship centers on maternal, perinatal, and newborn health, with particular expertise in maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, and quality improvement in obstetrics. She has led large federally funded initiatives focused on strengthening maternal health surveillance systems, developing advanced risk and quality metrics, and translating data into policy and practice improvements at the state, national, and global levels.
