The Department of Otolaryngology offers medical students a comprehensive and immersive educational experience, whether you are a home student exploring diverse interests or a visiting student preparing for a career in ENT.
Our rotations combine inpatient, outpatient, and surgical experiences with mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to all major ENT subspecialties.

For Home Students
Gain valuable skills that apply to any specialty, including patient evaluation, procedural techniques, professionalism, communication, and systems-based practice. Experience a range of ENT conditions and learn to identify patients needing specialized care.
For Visiting Students
Showcase your skills, gain targeted subspecialty exposure, and develop relationships with faculty and residents to support your residency application in otolaryngology. Participate in surgeries, specialty clinics, and advanced clinical experiences.
Subspecialty Exposure
Head and neck surgery, pediatric ENT, neuro-otology, rhinology, laryngology, and facial plastic surgery.
Rotation Options
Third Year
- OTOL 531 – Two-Week Outpatient Clinical Clerkship
- OTOL 532 – Two-Week Inpatient & Outpatient Clerkship
Fourth Year
- OTOL 540 & 541 – Four-Week Clinical Inpatient and Outpatient Rotations
- OTOL 548 – Four-Week Sub-Internship in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery
Educational Experience
Students learn to manage a variety of ENT conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Specialty clinics provide exposure to hearing and balance disorders, voice and swallowing disorders, sinus and nasal surgery, and head and neck oncology.
The program emphasizes clinical skills, diagnostic reasoning and professional growth, making it valuable to all students regardless of their ultimate career path.
