M.D./Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Joint Program
This joint program is in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. For admissions information and detailed information about this program, please visit the School of Dentistry website.
Students may only apply and be admitted pre-matriculation.
Requirements for the joint program for the Doctor of Medicine of the School of Medicine are specific to this joint program curriculum and the OMS residency program. The joint program is designed to be completed within six years. When students are in the OMS residency time, students are subject to the policies of the OMS residency program.
Medical School policies apply to all students while enrolled in the MD portion of any dual degree or joint program. SOM teaching faculty and administrators are provided access to medical school policies on the OSA website and the academic handbook.
Students who choose not to continue in a Joint program must contact, a dean in the Office of Student Affairs, the MSTP Program or MD/OMS Program Director and any associated Faculty Contact. A written request addressed to the Advancement Committee must be provided to a dean in the Office of Student Affairs requesting MD-only status. The Advancement Committee meets monthly and will review the student request to change dual-degree or joint degree status on its next available meeting agenda.
