Scapular fractures
- Usually the result of a significant force, because of this associated injuries are frequent and sometimes life- or limb-threatening.
- Some of the associated injuries are:
- Rib fractures
- Ipsilateral lung injuries
- Pneumothorax
- Hemothorax
- Pulmonary contusion
- Injuries to the shoulder girdle complex
- Clavicle fractures
- Shoulder dislocations with associated rotator cuff tears
- Neurovascular injuries (rare)
- Brachial plexus injuries
- Axillary artery or nerve injuries
- Subclavian artery injury
- Suprascapular nerve injury
- Vertebral compression fractures
