Office of Student Affairs

Institutional Organization

The four Undergraduate Medical Education offices work collaboratively to successfully steward our medical students from application to graduation.

Institutional Governance & Planning

A number of committees are actively involved in shaping the School of Medicine, particularly the curriculum and other essential aspects of your medical education.  The following committees/councils include students in their voting memberships. Students also may be invited to serve on special task forces and temporary committees. If you have an interest or expertise in a particular area, let the OSA staff know so that we may consider you for appointment to one of these temporary committees. As a student you have a voice on many of these committees. Furthermore, you can have an impact through the Student Government System.

  • Preclinical Curriculum Committee (PCC)
  • Clinical Years Committee (CYC)
  • Clinical Coordinating Committee (CCC)
  • Advancement Committee

  • Judicial Committee
  • Medical Education Advisory Committee (MEAC)
  • Medical Education Continuous Quality Improvement Committee (MECQI)

Student Government

Student leaders play an important role in the UMSOM Community. Specifically, Student Leadership has a critical role in creating class unity and community among all students. Participating as a leader is a great way to get to know classmates and faculty, and is likely to have a significant impact on the leader and their medical education.

The student leadership at UMSOM consists of a Student Council as well as representation for each class through the Student Government Association.
