Technology Support through Curricular Support Services

Education Support

The Office of Medical Education has a technical support team specifically dedicated to support the MD Program and Undergraduate Medical Education. The team is comprised of two groups, Instructional Technology Group (ITG) and Curriculum Support Services (CSS).

Both groups are made up of personnel dedicated to delivering reliable information technology capabilities and satisfying technical support experiences to our medical students and the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) offices.

These two groups, although dedicated to the MD program and UME offices, work collectively with the SOM and UMB campus level information technology groups to ensure end user issues handled by those groups are resolved in a timely manner. The groups possess a myriad of technical skills, expertise and take pride in providing outstanding customer service.

The School of Medicine uses these password protected platforms for the curriculum and student management. The ITG works closely with course directors to ensure that course related materials and resources are readily available to students.

Functions of ITG include :

  • VidaNova & MedScope Access and Functionality
  • Exam & Evaluation Services
  • Course Resources
  • Data Analysis

Curriculum Support Services

Curriculum Support Services

Curriculum Support Services (CSS) group offers a dedicated Medical Student helpdesk for resolution of issues related to connectivity to required network resources, limited support of student personal devices, exam support, lecture & small group support as well as presentation recording.

CSS is a great starting point for resolution to any technical issues that a medical student may be having while on the campus. The personnel are knowledgeable, customer focused, and have a desire to ensure the success of all medical students here at UMB. The CSS group is able to route issues that come to them to other areas on the campus during times when issues arise that may be outside of the scope of CSS and are supported at either the School of Medicine Information Systems (SOM IS) level or the UMB Campus Information Technology Services (CITS) level.

Other functions of CSS include :

  • Small Group Sign-in Clocks
  • Echo360 - Audience Response
  • Lecture Recordings - Panopto
  • ExamSoft, VidaNovaVLE, and NBME SecureBrowser
  • Teaching environment issues
  • Personal device issues (limited support)
