Office of Faculty Affairs & Professional Development
Dr. Drake Delivering Talk To Students With Dean Gladwin

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development serves as the central resource for SOM faculty seeking professional development. It works in close collaboration with MELA to help faculty strengthen their teaching expertise and with CARTI to build expertise in research and innovation.

The office connects the SOM to campus resources for faculty development, including the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL), Leadership in Education: Academy of Presidential Scholars (LEAPS), and Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). It also offers annual support for two female-identifying faculty to attend the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (ELAM), provides promotion workshops and individualized guidance to support faculty in preparing their portfolios, and delivers continuing medical education for faculty clinicians and community physicians on Cloud CME.

During this introductory virtual workshop on conflict management delivered in two parts, you will explore how to transform conflict into opportunities for collaboration and problem-solving. Through self-assessment, experiential exercises, and discussions with your peers, you will discover practical strategies for making difficult conversations more productive and for creating a respectful environment in which to resolve conflict.

Upcoming Virtual Workshops: August 18 & 20, 2026 and October 6 & 8, 2026
