The Nancy Ryan Lowitt, MD, EdM, Faculty Development Fund
This fund honors the leadership and commitment of Dr. Nancy Lowitt, who was deeply dedicated to faculty career development and advancement. This annual award recognizes a UMSOM faculty member whose academic leadership, cultural transformation efforts, commitment to excellence, and integrity reflect the high standards set by Dr. Lowitt during her tenure.
Each year, one UMSOM faculty member is chosen to receive a $2,500 award toward enrollment in a leadership training course of the winner’s choice. The winner/recipient will be formally recognized during the Promotions Award Ceremony on February 20, 2026, 4pm, at the SMC Campus Center and is strongly encouraged to attend, as Dr. Lowitt’s family is expected to be in attendance and will personally present the award.
Eligibility: Early to mid-career faculty pursuing a career in academic leadership or cultural transformation work that reflects the integrity and high standards set by Dr. Lowitt.
