The University of Maryland School of Medicine Global Health Alliance (UMGHA) is delighted to announce its inaugural UMGHA Charity Golf Classic, taking place on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Waverly Woods Golf Club in Marriottsville, Maryland.

Under the theme “Great Golf. Greater Impact.”, this exciting event will bring together university leaders, researchers, diplomats, business professionals, community leaders, golfers, and students for a day of friendly competition, networking, and philanthropy.

More Than Just a Golf Tournament

The Charity Golf Classic is more than a day on the golf course. It is an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships and mobilize resources to advance global health research, education, and stronger communities.

Many promising early-career researchers and students, particularly those working in global health, face significant funding challenges. Limited resources can prevent them from publishing important research findings, completing critical data collection, accessing mentorship, or pursuing opportunities that could advance their careers.

Through this inaugural fundraising initiative, UMGHA aims to mobilize support for global health research and education, help emerging researchers overcome funding barriers, and foster collaborations that can create lasting impact.

Even modest contributions can make a meaningful difference in advancing promising research and supporting the next generation of global health leaders.

Join Us on the Golf Course—or at Hole 19!

Whether you are an experienced golfer, a beginner, or simply interested in supporting a meaningful cause, there is an opportunity for everyone to participate.
