Medical School Curriculum
Faculty in the Department of Dermatology are deeply involved in medical student education, contributing to both required coursework and elective instruction.
They teach in key curriculum blocks, including Structure and Development, Immunology, Host Defenses and Pathophysiology, and Therapeutics. As part of the third-year ambulatory care rotation, students must complete eight half-day clinical sessions, followed by a comprehensive exam at the end of the rotation.
Residency Program
The University of Maryland School of Medicine has a three-year accredited program in dermatology, which emphasizes the clinical, histological, and research aspects of the specialty.
Our program is affiliated with the adjacent Veterans Affairs Medical Center and offers high patient volumes that include skin of color and the underserved populations. We have friendly attending faculties, resourceful staff, and supportive resident cohorts with 2-3 residents per year.
