REBOA-TRIM
RESUSCITATIVE ENDOVASCULAR BALLOON OCCLUSION OF THE AORTA
WITH TARGETED REPERFUSION INJURY MITIGATION (REBOA-TRIM)
REBOA-TRIM turns a lifesaving but time-limited therapy
into an active, mitochondria-targeted resuscitation platform.
By targeted access with a pharmacologic “mitochondrial
cocktail” and battlefield-feasible vagus-nerve stimulation, it
is poised to extend safe aortic occlusion well past the
current 30-to-60-minute ceiling, decreasing mortality from
NCTH despite prolonged care scenarios when air
superiority is threatened

The AFRL’s Rapid Prototyping Cell (RPC) and military physician-scientists are developing the capability to collect shed blood and safely return the blood (autologous transfusion) while providing secondary injury support during post hemorrhage recovery as well as patient warming for normothermia regulation.
BATTLEFIELD ASSISTED TRAUMA DISTRIBUTED OBSERVATION KIT
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BATDOK(TM) EMS)
Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Operation Kit (BATDOK™) is a mobile application that enables real-time patient documentation and continuous streaming of vital signs during emergency transport.
Deployed on Maryland State Police helicopters, it transmits critical interventions and patient data directly to the Trauma Resuscitation Unit at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
This system represents the first fully integrated prehospital and in-hospital monitoring platform connecting civilian, state, and federal partners.
