Giving Opportunities
Support Neuroscience Discovery at UM-MIND
Launched in 2023, the University of Maryland - Medicine Institute for Neuroscience Discovery (UM-MIND) is revolutionizing the way we understand and address brain health across the human lifespan. From studying brain development and resilience to combating injury, disease, and neurodegeneration, UM-MIND's research spans the entire “life” of the brain.
Unlike other neuroscience institutes, UM-MIND anchors its work in the human experience, taking an organic approach to understanding the brain itself. By exploring how the brain grows, adapts, and ages—both in healthy states and in the presence of dysfunction—our dedicated researchers work to improve brain health and function for people everywhere. Our multi-department, multi-disciplinary institute brings together a robust community of neuroscientists who approach each problem with a unique lens. United as one, we are poised for many scientific breakthroughs.
Fuel the Future of Brain Health
Your support for UM-MIND drives scientific exploration, accelerates discovery, and enables the development of novel therapies for the most pressing problems in brain science. Together, we can make critical progress in understanding and treating devastating conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, epilepsy, ALS, brain injuries, brain cancers, neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders, and more.
A contribution to UM-MIND is more than a gift—it's an investment in science, innovation, and hope. Whether you'd like to honor a loved one, give back to the institution and people with which you trained, or make a lasting impact, your generosity helps UM-MIND researchers fulfill their mission to optimize brain health across the lifespan.
Transform Lives, Empower Communities
Through broad-ranging collaborative work across disciplines, UM-MIND advances knowledge in critical areas of neuroscience. This includes ambitious explorations into the use of nanotechnologies, high-frequency ultrasound, and adaptive optics to treat brain disorders, as well as studies on how the immune system and inflammation influence brain health.
Moreover, UM-MIND is committed to the future of neuroscience by training and supporting the next generation of young scientists and providing outreach initiatives that engage our broader community in Baltimore and beyond—from K-8 students to older adults.
