Eligibility

  • Undergraduates with a genuine interest in microbiology & immunology research, a cumulative GPA ≥3.0, and strong letters of recommendation as reflected in their application packages, are eligible.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • SUMMIR is a 10-week, full time commitment starting the day after Memorial Day. Participation in the program is not compatible with concurrent outside employment or classes.
  • Applications from all undergraduates are welcome, particularly those with unique perspectives and lived experiences.
  • 20 internships are awarded each summer

How to Apply

Apply to SUMMIR 2026

  • Applications must be received by February 1, 2026.
  • Applicants can submit their SUMMIR application via the online application portal, Research Logix.

 

Required Documents for Application

  • A recent CV/resume
  • Official transcripts from universities/colleges attended. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for the review process; once admitted to the program, official transcripts will be requested.
  • The online application will include questions about your address, demographic information, academic history, research interests, and research experience.
  • The names and email addresses for two referees. Persons providing reference letters will receive an email from the system once the application is submitted. Please remind all referees that they will be receiving an email directly from Research Logix with a link to upload their letter.
