Medical Alumni Association
The Medical Alumni Association of the University of Maryland School of Medicine proudly represents a distinguished community of physicians and medical leaders connected by a shared legacy of excellence. Founded in 1807, the University of Maryland School of Medicine is the first public medical school in the United States and one of the oldest continually operating medical schools in the nation. For more than two centuries, it has shaped the practice of medicine through groundbreaking research, innovative education, and compassionate patient care. The Medical Alumni Association honors this rich history by fostering lifelong relationships among graduates, supporting current students, and advancing the School’s mission of leadership, discovery, and service. Rooted in tradition yet focused on the future, the Association celebrates the enduring impact of its alumni while strengthening a network committed to improving health and transforming lives across Maryland and around the world.
The Medical Alumni Association, in continuous operation since 1875, is an independent charitable organization dedicated to supporting the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Davidge Hall. It is led by Executive Director, Larry Pitrof.
