During the past half-century the University of Maryland Department of Radiation Oncology has grown from a small academic division into one of the world’s leading treatment, research, and training centers. Our alumni are the pioneers whose vision made such a difference in the lives of many patients, as well as students and colleagues who continue the department’s tradition of remaining in the forefront of radiation oncology.
The University of Maryland Department of Radiation Oncology has started an alumni association. The annual cost of the membership will go toward our resident training program. The residency education mission is to cultivate an educational environment which provides the full spectrum of learning opportunities in clinical radiation oncology, medical physics and radiobiology. Our flexible curriculum is designed to enable a resident to optimize their learning experience throughout their four years of training. It is our expectation that upon the completion of the program a resident will be an outstanding Radiation Oncologist, capable of making an immediate impact in either an academic or community practice setting.
The following are benefits to all members of the alumni association:
- Free copy of the Department History Book, University of Maryland Radiation Oncology: A History of Accomplishment
- Discounted registration at our annual Radiation Oncology Symposium - Best of course, typically held the second Thursday of January
- Annual invitation to department dinner reception during ASTRO
- Subscription to our departmental electronic quarterly newsletter, called The "Alumni" Beam
