Outpatient Services

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) Midtown Campus Inpatient Psychiatry Unit helps children and adults with behavioral and mental health needs, including:

  • Stress-related adjustment problems
  • Depression and/or anxiety
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Substance-induced psychiatric conditions
  • Hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Impulsivity, aggression, and problems at school

We offer comprehensive mental health treatment and case management services to children, adolescents, and adults at two locations: our Carruthers Clinic and Fayette Clinic. Both locations provide individual and group therapies, medication management, personalized case management for patients, substance use disorder services, and more.

Carruthers Clinic

The Carruthers Clinic offers comprehensive mental health care services for children, women, and adults.

Child and Adolescent

We work to treat children ages 5 to 18 for aggression, difficulties at school, impulsivity, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, and more. We also offer medication evaluation and management that are customized to a child’s need and dosage, socialization groups, personalized therapy sessions for individuals and groups, and consultations with schools and agencies to help families access beneficial and available resources.

Adults

Psychiatric illnesses often coincide with substance use, and our team works to provide diagnoses and treatments for the most complex of cases. We work with those with serious and persistent psychiatric conditions, mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, family problems, life crises, and more.

Women’s Mental Health

Our specialists and team members support the wellbeing of women before, during, and after pregnancy, and we offer services for addictions during pregnancy as well as for postpartum stress.

Young Adults Early Intervention

The Carruthers Clinic’s RAISE Connections program treats young adults between 15 and 35 years of age who have experienced any type of psychotic event. Our collaborative team helps to detect early symptoms and identify disorders during this critical time to help patients manage medication, return to school or locate a job, engage in therapy and social skills training, and more.

Fayette Clinic

The Continuous Care Team (CCT) at our Fayette Clinic provides treatment to adults who require a higher tier of care than traditional outpatient care, but who do not require overnight stays with supervision.

At the Fayette Clinic, we see patients for medication, therapy, and case management and, with some patients, help individuals budget and manage their monthly income. Our overarching goal is to promote independent living while providing treatment, education, and access to resources in a supportive and compassionate manner.
