Inpatient Services

Dr. Stephanie Knight, Chief of Psychiatry at Midtown, partakes in the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new 24,000 square-foot adult inpatient behavioral health unit.

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) provides individuals with a spectrum of behavioral health services from our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and occupational and recreational therapists. We further aim to provide a humanistic approach to psychiatric services, combined with a top-tier quality of care, to ensure both patient safety and satisfaction.

Our newly constructed inpatient unit is a state-of-the-art, $9 million project that was designed for single person occupancy with private rooms.

Additionally, our team approach to care includes:

  • Medication management
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Therapy (group, individual, occupational, recreational, family, and skill-building activities)
  • Substance use treatment services
