Dr. van de Leemput (she/her) is the Scientific Writer at the Center for Precision Disease Modeling, University of Maryland School of Medicine. There she works with the scientists to transform their findings into scientific publications. Besides being responsible for manuscripts, she also assists in writing funding applications including literature research, drafts, and writing supporting documents. To be most effective, she actively participates in lab meetings and utilizes her previous research experiences, which include disease-related genetics in humans, dogs, and animal models, neurogenetics (ataxic movement disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders), genomics, transcriptomics, and using human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons and astrocytes to model cortical development and disease. Since working at the Center, this has expanded to include human disease modeling in Drosophila, with a focus on genetic heart and kidney diseases.

Research/Clinical Keywords

scientific writing and editing; Drosophila, human precision disease models; neurosciences, neurogenetics, transcriptomics, human brain development, neurons, astrocytes, human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells
