Jamie Swietlikowski completed her graduate study of Nurse-Midwifery at Georgetown University. Prior to coming to University of Maryland, she has provided care in both a birth center setting and high volume metropolitan hospital setting. She is committed to providing compassionate personalized midwifery care to women and families in Baltimore City.
Most recently Certified Nurse-Midwife Swietlikowski is pursuing opportunities to raise awareness, improve access, and strengthen the quality of maternity care provided to women living with opioid dependence. To this end, her article on pain management of opioid dependent pregnant women will appear in the next issue of the Journal of Neonatal and Perinatal Nursing and her abstract on the same subject will be presented at the American College of Nurse-Midwives 2017 annual conference. She has helped develop statewide learning modules for maternity care providers on the care of opioid dependent women in pregnancy. She is a volunteer clinician on a city mobile needle exchange and reproductive health clinic. She is participating in a professional work group to advocate for legislation that would grant midwives prescriptive authority to opioid maintenance medication.
