Biosketch

Personal History:

Richelle Cricks, CNM, MSN gained experience as an RN at busy Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh while pursuing higher education. She completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing at Slippery Rock University, and then went on to earn her master’s degree at Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.

Richelle began her midwifery career in community hospitals in Lewisburg, PA, and Hanover, PA, gaining experience and confidence in her skills. She joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Reproductive Sciences in April, 2016. In addition to her clinical practice, Richelle also enjoys her role as an educator for midwifery students, medical students, and both OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents.

Richelle is a member of the Advanced Practice Council, and serves as a board member of the Prenatal/Postpartum Advisory Board (PPAB), and is a past member of the Perinatal and Oral Health Quality Improvement (PIOHQI) Program, where she was on the steering committee for the publication Oral Health Care During Pregnancy: Practice Guidelines for Maryland’s Prenatal and Dental Health Care Providers. She is also a member of the State Child Fatality Review Team, the Maryland Academy of Advanced Practice Clinicians, the Maryland Action Coalition, and the Legislative Committee of the Maryland ACNM.

She feels that she has come home to Maryland, and believes involvement and participation are important for all midwives.
