Dr. Mustafa Al-Mashat has joined the faculty group of the school of medicine at the University of Maryland in 2017 after the completion of his Critical Care Medicine training at the George Washington University Hospital. Dr. Al-Mashat sees himself as a clinician with special interest in the medical education for residents, students, advanced practitioners and staff in general. 

During his medical education and training, Dr. Al-Mashat have served as an active member in his program's steering committees. He also was an active representative of his program in the safety committee and the transition of care committees in the hospital, where he guided his fellow residents then through the process of going through root cause analysis and learning from defects. 

Dr. Al-Mashat's other areas of interest also includes culture change in healthcare, evidence-based medical practice and cost effectiveness in the critical care setting.
