Biosketch
Dr. Smith received an A.B. in Physics and Mathematics from Washington University (St. Louis) in 1979, and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from UCSD in 1989. Subsequently, he held academic positions at Duke University, National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD) and Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Newport News, VA). Dr. Smith then moved to the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he has been Director of Radiotion Physics in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine since 2007.
