Transcripts

Medical School Transcripts

Every residency application requires a copy of your official transcript. OSA will transmit all transcripts in September to the appropriate application system(s). All grades received to date will have been placed on the transcripts. Transcripts will only be transmitted once and will not be updated throughout the application cycle.

We recommend applicants check SURFS to make sure that the transcript is up to date during the early stages of the application process and perform a final review before it is scanned into ERAS. Any grades listed as "NM" for "no mark" or "I" for an incomplete should be addressed with the course director and OSA immediately.

Note the official transcript does not report GPA (it is listed as 0.00). OSA calculates GPAs by curricular phase, which is used for in-house purposes only. GPAs are not made public. If a GPA is requested for any reason, you should put N/A on the form.

USMLE Transcripts

The USMLE Transcript is required by most residency programs as part of the residency application. OSA recommends students research individual program requirements, including minimum scores, early in the application process. The USMLE Step 2 examination is an important consideration for more residency programs when considering whether to extend an interview. We highly recommend students take Step 2 no later than July to ensure a score is available at the time of the application.

Note: OSA does not have access to the USMLE transcript

MyERAS

Authorize Release: Applicants must authorize the release of the USMLE transcript for inclusion in the MyERAS application (and other application systems). This may be done in MyERAS by selecting “Authorize Release” under Actions and entering or confirming the USMLE ID. Be sure to confirm and save the selection. There is an additional, one-time, flat fee to release the USMLE transcript to programs.

Assign to Programs: Once you have authorized the release of the USMLE transcript, it must be assigned to individual programs. In the MyERAS Additional Documents page, applicants can “Assign” (under the Actions column) the USMLE transcript to all saved or applied to programs. Once assigned, the transcript cannot be unassigned.

Resending New Scores: If a score is not available or updated at the time of the initial application, the USMLE transcript must be re-sent to programs for them to have the updated score reports. In the MyERAS Additional Documents page, select “Resend My Scores” under the Actions column. The new transcript will be sent to all programs that previously received it.

ResidencyCAS

USMLE Transcripts can be requested in ResidencyCAS in the USMLE and COMPLEX Scores section. Before requesting, make sure you have correctly entered your date of birth (Biographic Information section) and medical school (Medical School Attended section). To request the official transcript, click “Request USMLE and Complex Scores,” select the appropriate test, and enter the test ID. Note that scores will be sent to all programs to which you apply. If a score is not available at the time of the initial application or is updated, the USMLE transcript must be requested again in the USMLE and Complex Scores section by clicking “Requested” and then “Re-Request.”
