Giving Opportunities

Weighing only three pounds, the human brain controls memory, thought, language, movement, pleasure, pain, emotions, our senses, sleep and dreams. It is the substance that makes us human. Damage or disease to the brain can be devastating.

Imagine being unable to move or speak at will or to remember those closest to you. Our dedicated faculty members want to eliminate that possibility. We are leading the way in the study and treatment of neurological disorders. Our world renowned laboratory and clinical research programs further the understanding of neurological disease while developing and testing new therapies.

Your gift to the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland will support research and education in areas meaningful to you, help advance our knowledge of how the brain works, and lead to progress in finding better and more effective treatments for neurological disorders including: Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, tremor, dystonia, stroke, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disease, neuropathy, ALS and epilepsy/seizures.

Your gift also is a wonderful way to say "thank you" to a physician for a job well done or to create an enduring legacy in honor of a loved one or friend. We invite you to join us in our efforts to improve the exceptional clinical care we offer patients today and advance the teaching of our students and trainees who will become the physicians and investigators of tomorrow.
