Academic Hospitalist (3-309-1049)

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full time Academic Hospitalist. As one of 30 hospitalists, this individual will have the opportunity to work on our teaching hospitalist service as well as our non-teaching, direct care services. While attending on the general medical teaching service, hospitalists supervise care provided by a resident team and provide education to third and fourth year medical students, interns, and residents.

Non-teaching responsibilities include supervising advanced practice providers as well as providing direct clinical care in the Medical Intermediate Care unit and non-teaching general medicine and transplant medicine services. Hospitalists provide medical consultation throughout the hospital, as well as serve in a Medical Admitting Officer role in which they facilitate bed control and direct admissions as needed to expedite transfers from our acute care units, the Emergency Department, and the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

UMMC is a referral center for the most critically ill patients in the Mid-Atlantic region. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland. Hospitalists for the Division of General Internal Medicine (3-309-1069)

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting full time hospitalists. These positions will provide inpatient attending coverage on our non-teaching services. Duties include staffing of our observation unit, general internal medicine non-teaching service, and transplant medicine services, as well as providing medical consultations for general medicine, transplant medicine, and co-management of surgical services. Please indicate in your response if you have a special interest in transplant medicine. Opportunities for full-time nocturnists are also available.

Hospitalist (Nocturnist)/Position 3-309-1054:

The General Internal Medicine Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine has an opening for a Hospitalist (Nocturnist). This position will work 14 shifts every 28 days. Duties include coverage of the Advanced Heart Failure (AHF) service with fellow backup and will encompass work up of new admissions and coverage of existing patients, placing central lines and arterial catheters. Cardiology attendings are also available as needed to assist with diagnosis and treatment plans. There may be opportunities for teaching of interns and residents on the primary cardiology service if one of their patients becomes unstable or if they are uncomfortable/unsuccessful performing procedures.

Qualified candidates will be BE/BC in internal medicine. Although this is a general Internal Medicine hospitalist position, those interested in applying for Cardiology fellowship are encouraged to apply. Adequate comfort level with EKG's and signs of arrhythmias and decompensation is strongly desired. This position requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting.

Academic Internist/Outpatient Practice Medical Director (3-309-1063)

The General Internal Medicine Division of the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks a Medical Director to lead the General Internal Medicine ambulatory practice at the University of Maryland Medical Center-Midtown Campus (UMMC- MTC). Clinical responsibilities will include managing a panel of patients in primary care as well as participating in call coverage with other members of the team. This position will also provide educational supervision to medical students and residents, as the site serves as the ambulatory continuity practice for the UMMC-MTC Internal Medicine residency. Administratively, this position will be responsible for leading and managing the practice, engaging in outreach and education as well as service projects to provide visibility and benefit to the community, and seeking a multidisciplinary approach with other service providers to optimize patient experience and outcomes.

Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine the State of Maryland. This position requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting. Experience in practice management and administration is strongly desired. Expected faculty rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
