About Us

Close up image of woman reading in what appears to be a lab.The Research Division is a group of faculty and staff within the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine who are involved in primary care research. We are comprised of members with individual research interests who have come together to enhance research efforts within the department. The division currently has eleven members and is led by Dr. Beth Barnet, Vice Chair of Research.

Division members participate in collaborations such as Primary Care Research Day, Resident Research Day, and the Robert Graham Collaboration. We strive to attend national meetings, for example the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) and other primary care research meetings. The division also has a role in CORE lectures and Grand Rounds.

Career development is important to division faculty and staff who aim to support the development of junior faculty. In addition to career development, we actively search and apply for funding opportunities to conduct innovative research.
