University of Maryland Medical Center

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is an 779 bed urban, tertiary care hospital with over 38,000 inpatient admissions and 400,000 outpatient visits each year.

UMMC serves as a primary care center for neighborhood residents of Baltimore and the adjacent suburbs as well as a major referral center for the mid-Atlantic area.

Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center

The Baltimore Veteran Affairs Medical Center (BVAMC) is located adjacent to UMMC with easy access between the two hospitals via a connecting pedestrian bridge.

The BVAMC houses 137 beds and has over 8,000 inpatient admissions and 500,000 outpatient visits each year. Approximately 4000 endocrine/diabetes outpatient visits occur each year.

Involvement in the care of patients at the BVAMC permits the fellow a broader exposure to the spectrum of endocrine diseases than would otherwise be possible by seeing patients drawn solely from the population at large. Furthermore, the BVAMC serves a referral center for patients with more complex endocrine disorders from the surrounding VA Medical Centers and clinics.

University of Maryland Midtown

The UMMC Midtown Campus is a 208-bed community teaching hospital located in Baltimore City with over 100,000 inpatient admissions and outpatient visits each year.

All of the outpatient diabetes and endocrine services for UMMC are located on the UMMC Midtown campus in the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology (UMCDE).
