Mentors

The primary faculty of the Training Program in Cardiac & Vascular Cell Biology consists of 32 members from eight departments, divisions or programs at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and from the School of Nursing and the Medical Biotechnology Center, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute.

They were selected by the Steering Committee based on the following criteria:

  1. research productivity as evidenced by publications and peer-reviewed grant support,
  2. commitment to training as evidenced by their training record, and
  3. the alignment of their scientific interests to the research themes of the CVCB Training Program.

The faculty is responsible for teaching formal courses for the pre-doctoral and postdoctoral trainees, supervising the laboratory rotations and thesis research of the pre-doctoral trainees and supervising the research and course work of the postdoctoral trainees.
