Radiation Oncology Research Scholarship Award

The Department of Radiation Oncology, via an Endowment Fund for Academic Excellence in Radiation Oncology, announces an annual scholarship opportunity to be awarded to one medical student who has successfully completed a research project during their 2nd year, 3rd year and/or 1st semester of their 4th year.  The student must demonstrate their interest in Radiation Oncology through a research project completed under the mentorship of a faculty member in the Department.  The scholarship award for this program will be worth up to $2,500 with payment being made at the end of academic year when all requirements have been met.  Payments will be made via scholarship/tuition credit which will be applied against their tuition.

Notification of Award: April 24, 2018


Student Applicant

  • Applicants must be enrolled in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year at The University of Maryland School of Medicine at the time of the application.
  • An application that includes the following must be submitted before the application deadline: Student’s CV, project title and faculty member, along with status regarding publication and/or presentation at a scientific meeting.

Criteria for Awarding Scholarship

  • Students must complete a research project prior to the first week of April, 2018.
  • The completed research project, along with abstract submission, publication and/or meeting presentation status (oral or poster) will be reviewed by the research award committee with a focus of novelty of research and excellence of research.

The graduation award is awarded to one graduating senior who has demonstrated on several levels their interest in radiation oncology. 

Radiation Oncology Research Scholarship Award

The research scholarship is awarded to one medical student who has successfully completed a radiation oncology research project during their 2nd year, 3rd year and/or 1st semester of their 4th year.  The student must demonstrate their interest in Radiation Oncology through a research project completed under the mentorship of a faculty member in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
