Qualified students are encouraged to become involved in Academic Development. The opportunities begin during first year and continue through the fourth year.

In the first year, students have the opportunity to apply to become a teacher for the Prematriculation Summer Program. The selected teachers will gain experience in lesson planning, delivering lectures, leading lab and small group learning experiences, preparing exams, supporting students, and collaborating with faculty and staff. The unique experience is a first-hand look into careers in academic medicine.

In the second year, student have the opportunity to support the academic development of the first year students as tutors and by leading information sessions. This opportunity to give back also provides the opportunity to review material and to gain experience in academic medicine.

In the fourth year, students have a wealth of experience and knowledge on pressing issues for the students in earlier years. Fourth year students provide support as tutors and by leading information sessions.
