Installation of Updates on a Windows Machine

SOM Policy requires that all computers receive security updates on a regular basis.

The SOM Office of Information Services uses System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to ensure systems automatically get the latest updates.  By using the default SCCM settings, a domain machine will be notified when updates are available, and a machine user can choose when they would like to install the updates for up to 7 days after the updates are presented to the machine.  After 7 days, the updates will be automatically installed on a machine and the machine rebooted (if the update(s) require an update).
