My recent research interest has mainly focused on coagulation management and transfusion and related clinical outcomes in the setting of cardiovascular surgery. I have participated in both preclinical and clinical studies of novel agents that modulate coagulation, and coagulation monitoring devices. My main focus is to evaluate the dynamic balance of thrombin generation during liver transplantation, and after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). To this end, I have been utilized computer simulation models, reconstituted plasma samples, and ex-vivo blood samples, so that bleeding risks can be assessed and potential interventions can be evaluated for efficacy and possible hypercoagulability.
