SOM Student Scholarships and Awards Ceremony

What Happens?

Fourth-year students receiving departmental awards and donors who fund these awards will be recognized at this ceremony. Only those students receiving awards or selected scholarships and their guests are invited to attend and will be notified by early April. Humanism Luncheon

What Happens?

Students are inducted into the Humanism Honor Society, and student members and faculty speakers give remarks. This event is by invitation only.

University of Maryland Baltimore Afternoon Commencement

When:

May 18, 2012 at 2pm to 4pm

Where:

1st Mariner Arena located at Baltimore and Howard Streets. Students must be in line by 2:00pm

What Happens?

Conferring of honorary degrees, conferring of degrees of graduates, remarks from an invited commencement speaker, student remarks, and presentation of diplomas to graduates. Students receive a blank piece of paper upon procession to the stage, but official diplomas are available to be picked up immediately following the ceremony. Alternatively, students may pick up their diplomas at the Registrar’s Office for one week following graduation. After that time, they may be mailed to students.

Parking:

All around the area, but it will be a busy time, so leave plenty of time to find parking.
 

Facilities for the Handicapped:

Contact the 1st Mariner Arena (410) 347-2000 about handicap parking and special seating in the arena.

Tickets:

None are necessary. The ceremony is open to all. UMB does provide some generic announcements which state, that the UMB Campus is having a graduation ceremony at the 1st Mariner Arena on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. You may pick them up in the OSA beginning mid-April. Some students in the past have purchased more personal yet inexpensive announcements off campus or from the bookstore.
